About

This document will cover the necessary requirements for integrating a customer solution with PackNet Software Platform. In order to further support new and existing customers in the future, it will be required that all solutions meet the requirements outlined in this document.

Introduction

PackNet is a software solution designed to answer the logistical demands of a business's packaging production. Built using a microservice and IoT (Internet of Things) enabled architecture, PackNet is a scalable, secure, and robust application that can be easily integrated into any packaging workflow. With efficient integration capabilities, real-time support, and an improved user experience, PackNet is the right-sized packaging solution software that delivers the capabilities needed for efficient, on-demand packaging.

PackNet provides a number of integration points that can be leveraged to integrate closely with customer systems. This document describes the approach, appropriate use cases, data specifications, and supported technologies.

Definitions

Cloud

PackNet is capable now of supporting large scale operations with 50+ machines. This software will be centrally managed and will allow Packsize to respond to issues faster than in previous software iterations.

Key Features:

  • Capable of supporting large scale operations.

  • Utilizes Azure cloud platform.

  • Able to adapt in real-time to fluctuating demand in operations.

  • Leverages a robust and secure IoT framework in order to enable real-time communication between machines and cloud.

  • Software is centrally managed and allows for features with bug and security fixes to be implemented rapidly.

Tenant

The PackNet system is a multi-tenant platform, meaning there is a single software environment. A tenant is a customer's own area of the software platform that only they and limited Packsize personnel can access. Each customer will be given their own tenant area.

Key Features:

  • Customer tenant setup is quick and easy.

  • Customers have access to create users and administer designs and corrugates within their tenant.

IoT

Packsize uses IoT devices to allow customer operations to communicate to PackNet. IoT devices are specialized hardware components that are wired into the machine and run specialized Packsize software known as IoT modules.

Key Takeaways:

  • Allows Packsize machines to communicate to PackNet.

  • Packsize engineer must be on site to install the device on machine. If the Packsize hardware is not already cloud enabled, a Packsize engineer must be on site to install and configure the device.

  • Customers must work with Packsize to ensure network connectivity requirements are met.

  • IoT modules will be centrally managed in the cloud. All future software updates and backups can be performed remotely.
