Downstream Closing

The Downstream Closing capability extends the functionality of the PackNet Software Platform by enabling seamless integration between carton creation and downstream closing processes, such as lidding and taping. In order to gain access to the Downstream Closing features, a closing machine must first be added to that instance of PackNet.

Users can configure a fully integrated packaging workflow from carton creation through final closure, improving operational efficiency, reducing manual handling, and making sure each carton is securely closed prior to shipment.

Downstream Closing uses the following job statuses to track the progress of a carton requiring closing. These status are viewable in the Search Job Details view.

  • Closing Required – The carton awaits its downstream closing process.

  • Closing – The closing action is currently in progress.

  • Closed – The carton has completed the closing operation.

  • Closing Failed – The machine failed to close the carton properly.

  • Closing Removed – The carton was removed from the closing process by the user.

  • Closing Expired - When a carton has been in the Closing Required status for 30 days, it will automatically be updated to Closing Expired.
